Carol Endean Little
Carol is an Australian sculptor/artist based in Bathurst, NSW. Her works are concerned with the expression of the immaterial in tangible form, and ironically, with a deep appreciation of the character of the material used, be it stone, metal, wood or paper.
Her carved sculptures in marble and sandstone are quiet presences in their spaces, inviting touch and contemplation.
Her works in stainless steel are evanescent, reflecting light, and those in raw steel or wood are earthy in their patinated surfaces.
In all her work, whether drawing, painting, sculpture or installation, Carol explores several themes - the great mystery of Time, text as design and implied meaning, the presence of the mark or form in space, the physical qualities of the material used. Truth and beauty; they matter.
She has participated in Artist Residencies and Symposia in Hill End, NSW, Mt Gambier, SA, and Pietrasanta, Italy, and in such exhibitions as the Mosman Art Prize, the Jacaranda Drawing Award, the Blake Prize, Artscape, Byron Bay, Sculpture in the Garden, Mudgee, Sculpture at Scenic World, Katoomba and Artisans in the Gardens in the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney.
